World football legends were born and raised in Amsterdam. They first played football on the streets of the Dutch capital and managed to play for the city’s big team, AFC Ajax and of course for the Dutch National Team.
The greatest football player in Dutch history learned the secrets of the sport in Amsterdam.
Johan Cruyff (1947-2016) grew up in the neighborhood called “Betondorp“. This is a neighborhood that was built for families that did not have high incomes.
Cruyff was not born in the area, but grew up there and played football with his friends as a young child.
The house still exists! If you want to visit it, it is located at Akkerstraat 32 in Betondorp.
You can’t go inside, but you can see it from the outside. Even so, you will be in awe when you see the house where one of the greatest footballers to ever walk the planet grew up!
