FLORENCE: Schiacciata all’uva, the sweet feast!

Florence is a magical city that you will fall in love with from the first moment. The rich history, culture, museums and magnificent architecture create a fantastic collage of images that will remain etched in your memory.

Florence is famous for its special grape bread. It is schiacciata all’uva, which the locals love and which tourists are gradually learning about.

The grapes come directly from the fields of Tuscany. Many use canaiolo grapes. Other bakers use American concords, which are uva fragola (strawberry grapes), because of their aroma and the sweetness they give off when you eat them. There are also some others who use blueberries.

It is a grape bread that has two layers of dough and several red grapes that are cut in half. The jam juice that comes out of the dough takes the schiacciata all’uva off.

In all of this there is also the sprinkling of sugar on top of the dough and the grapes that make the grape bread even sweeter.
