Dear sports fans,
Lille is a beautiful city to walk through and explore its alleys and neighborhoods.
In addition, it is also an inspiration for several artists of all forms.
The trademark of Lille is the Old Stock Exchange, “Vieille Bourse”. It is the former building of the Lille Chamber of Commerce and Industry and is housed between Place du Général-de-Gaulle and Place du Théâtre.
Did you know that this particular building is about five centuries old? It was built in 1653 and its architecture is Flemish Renaissance. They dominate the statue of Hermes at the top of the bell tower and the 24 identical houses that enclose an inner courtyard.
You can enter the courtyard and meet booksellers, chess players and florists.
From 1861 the Lille Stock Exchange opened in the building and in 1921 the new Stock Exchange and Chamber of Commerce building was opened.
