COPENHAGEN: Æbleflæsk, the must-try local food

Dear sports fans,

Copenhagen is a paradise on earth to enjoy wonderful natural landscapes, excellent architecture and a cuisine that remains etched in the minds of all who decide to taste it.

The Danes have every reason to be proud of one of the most beautiful foods on the planet, the recipe of which has remained the same and unchanged for many decades.

Æbleflæsk, which means pork apple in Danish, is a traditional dish loved by the locals.

It is a pork belly that has been fried with apples, onions and sugar. Also, many chefs add thyme during frying.

Some people prefer to fry the pork belly first and then add pieces of tart apples mixed with sugar and lots of spices.

Other products have also been used from time to time, such as cold meats and especially bacon.

This particular food can be found in most restaurants in the Danish capital.

Of course, the best thing would be to accompany it with one of the local beers or wine.
