It dates back to 1109 and was burnt down after its purchase by the Wenningen lords in 1517 due to a peasant uprising. It was rebuilt and it was struck by lightning’ strike in 1777. It has been in the city since 1973 and you can see the outpost, the moat and the towers.

Historian Karl Wilhelmi made many excavations in the 19th century and many of his discoveries can be seen in the museum. Much of the exhibition is devoted to the development of democracy and the Baden Revolution of 1848/49. Ιt’s in the historic building complex of the Altes Rathaus (Old Town Hall).

*** LERCHENNES FRIEDRICH DER GROßE MUSEUM (Lerchenneststraße 18, 74889 Sinsheim).

It’s the only museum dedicated specially to Frederick the Great (1712-1786) recalls his attempt to escape as an 18-year-old Crown Prince in the year 1730. You can learn interesting facts about the life and works of Frederick. You will see too the adjoining rooms contain displays of agricultural equipment.
