Riga is a city that will offer you rich images, wonderful aura and high culinary delights.
The capital of Latvia also loves sports. Its inhabitants always find time to play sports and of course they have their own way of respecting and appreciating all those who contributed to the country’s sports.
The Latvian Sports Museum (Address: Alksnāja iela 9, Centra rajons, Rīga, LV-1050) awaits you open from Monday to Saturday. It is located in an ancient building in the Old Town and includes tens of thousands of exhibits related to the history of sports in the country for many centuries!
You will be able to find a lot of information about great sports figures of Latvian sports. Several medals, cups, trophies, photographs, sports equipment, sporting goods, balls, racquets, videos and historical artifacts are featured prominently in the Museum.
There is a special area that even highlights the evolution of sports fashion with various period clothes.
Also take a look at the museum’s library which has historical books – heirlooms, biographies of top athletes, historical books about the roots of sports, statistics, etc.
At the same time, you are given the opportunity to participate in various sports activities.
From Monday to Friday the museum is open from 10.00 to 17.00. On Saturdays it is open from 10.00 to 16.00.
