STOZICE STADIUM

It was opened in 2010 and is one of the most beautiful stadiums in the Balkans. Its capacity is 16,038 seats and, among other things, it is the “home” of the Slovenian national football team. The pitch is in the Stozice sports park and it’s actually elevated below the park and looks like a huge crater! It is also a venue for concerts, theater performances and cultural events. The location of the stadium is magical!

*** LJUBLJANA CASTLE (Grajska planota 1, 1000 Ljubljana)

It is the main attraction of the city and is a complex of castles in a prominent position on a hill. It dates from the 11th century and over the centuries other buildings were built.

*** DRAGON BRIDGE

It is one of the most famous and photographed sights of the city. The dragon statues decorated on it make it unique. It dates from the beginning of the 20th century.

It was built in 1813 and is the place where the residents of the capital spend most of their time to relax. There you can find the International Center of Graphic Arts in the glorious 17th century Tivolski Grad, the Museum of Modern Art and the city zoo.

Opened in 1918, it is the country’s national art gallery with collections from the Middle Ages to the 20th century.

*** SEMINARY LIBRARY (Tržnica, Dolničarjeva ulica 4, 1000 Ljubljana)

It was opened at the beginning of the 18th century and you will have the opportunity to find medieval manuscripts and precious printed matter. See the statues of Hercules by the sculptor Angelo Putti, enjoy the impressive ceiling of the library and of course discover the treasure of rare books.

*** SAINT NICHOLAS’ CHURCH (Dolničarjeva ulica 1, 1000 Ljubljana)

It was built at the beginning of the 18th century and is of Gothic style. The green dome, its twin towers and its impressive interior will enchant you.

*** NATIONAL MUSEUM OF SLOVENIA (Muzejska ulica 1, 1000 Ljubljana)

It was founded in 1821 and has exhibits in the Archaeological Department, Numismatic Office, Department of Engraving and Drawings and Department of History and Applied Arts.

It was built in 1857 and you can see among other priceless paintings as well as murals with historical significance.

Ljubljana is a cosmopolitan capital and a culinary paradise for foodies. You can find cuisines from all over the world, Mediterranean, European, Asian, African, American and Latin American. One of the traditional dishes of the city is the mushroom soup Gobova juha and the sausage Kranjska klobasa. Also the traditional pasta that is Idrijski žlikrofi is equally delicious food. You can try meats and especially beef, which are cooked with influences from Alpine and Pannonian cuisines. Trout is the most common type of fish. For sweets you can try Prekmurska gibanica (something like a strudel) or Štruklji. Of course accompany your food with wine or beer.
