ANTON MALATINSKY STADIUM

It opened in its new form in 2015 and is one of the most modern stadiums in Slovakia. It bears the name of the “legend” of FC Spartak Trnava and its capacity is 19,200 seats. The Slovakian national football team often uses it for their international matches. Around the stadium you will find a shopping center, casino, restaurants, children’s playground and many sporting goods stores.

*** ARCHBISHOP PALACE (Námestie svätého Mikuláša 387, 917 01 Trnava)

It was the first ceremonial seat of the archbishops of Esztergom and you will have the opportunity to see the architecture of the renaissance era. Tour to see the rooms, chapel, cellars and more.

*** CITY TOWER (Štefánikova 1, 917 02 Trnava)

It is one of the most historical monuments of the city dating from the end of the 16th century.

*** CATHEDRAL OF ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST (Univerzitné námestie, 917 01 Trnava)

It dates from the 17th century and its interior is dominated by the monumental wooden main altar of 1640 by B. Knilling and V. Knoth.

*** BERNOLAK’S GATE

It is one of the most important attractions of the city. Anton Bernolák (1762 – 1813) was a prominent figure of the Enlightenment. See the statue of Bernolak with a book conversing with a group of men, women and children, representing the Slovak nation.

***  MEDIEVAL DEFENSIVE WALL

Dating back to 1238, the fortifications were severely damaged over the centuries during battles, but a very large part has been preserved.

*** BASILICA OF SAINT NICHOLAS (Námestie svätého Mikuláša 385/1, 917 01 Trnava)

It was built at the end of the 14th and beginning of the 15th century, it had Gothic architecture and in the 17th century it was reconstructed in Baroque style. It is the center of the city’s cultural and religious activity.

*** MUSEUM OF WESTERN SLOVAKIA (Múzejné námestie 3, 917 01 Trnava)

You can enjoy exhibits from prehistoric times to the modern era of the city and the surrounding area. There are also the Museum of Biblical Culture, the House of Mikuláš Schneider-Trnavský and the Library for the scientific public located in the Šándor House.

*** CHURCH OF ST. HELENA (Hlavná 18/47, 917 01 Trnava)

It dates from the 13th-14th century and has undergone several changes since then. It is a reference point for the city.

*** STATUS QUO ANTE SYNAGOGUE (Halenárska 407, 917 01 Trnava)

It was built at the end of the 19th century in the Moorish-Byzantine style and now houses the Ján Koniarek gallery.

*** CHURCH OF THE HOLY TRINITY (Štefánikova 135/45, 917 01 Trnava)

Today it is known as the Jesuit Church and is a historic temple.

FOOD AND DRINK

In Trnava you will be able to find cuisines from many parts of the world, like European, Mediterranean, Asian and American. Try the bryndzové halušky (Sheep cheese dumplings), sviečková na smotane which is beef with sauce, potato dumplings stuffed with smoked meat, kapustnica and the traditional soup cesnaková zupepka which is inside bread. If you like sausages then try krvavničky. For sweets, eat the traditional Skalický Trdelník. Accompany your meal with beer or wine.
