It is one of the most modern stadiums in Austria. It was inaugurated in 2007 and its capacity is 29,863 seats. It is located on the Sportpark Klagenfurt campus and takes its name from the nearby Wörthersee lake. Where the Wörthersee Stadion is located was the old stadium which was demolished. One of the main reasons the new one was built was UEFA Euro 2008. Around the stadium are other football pitches, tennis courts, an indoor volleyball gym and a sports park.
