Dear sports fans,
Plzen is not only famous for its traditional beer. We would also recommend you to try the traditional dishes that contain delicious meat.
Tatarák is one of the most popular dishes in the Czech Republic and especially in Plzen. Legend has it that it comes from Mongolia. It is the Czech version of steak tartare with raw ground beef “bathed” with salt, pepper and spices.
You will find this particular dish in bars, pubs and restaurants. The Czechs serve it as if it were a burger and it is accompanied by raw egg yolk, potatoes, onions, local pickles, toasted bread and garlic.
Many chefs in the city serve tatarák with fish meat, which is also excellent and worth trying. The classic dish, however, is with minced beef.
Since you are in the city that produces one of the most famous beers in the world, we would recommend you to eat the tatarák and drink a cold glass of beer.
