MUNICH: The traditional food Schweinshaxe

Munich is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe and one of the most beautiful in the world. It exudes a sporty aura in every neighborhood. The combination of museums, wonderful green parks, plenty of beer and delicious food, the Bavarian capital is ranked on the list of cities that you should visit at least once in your life.

We would recommend you to try local delicacies that have evolved and become more and more delicious over the decades.

One food that you should taste is Schweinshaxe. It is a roasted pork knuckle that is the end of the pig’s leg and was for decades (and remains) one of the most popular foods in the city and especially among farmers.

Restaurant chefs marinate them for days, so that when they reach your table they are very tasty and very soft. They are slow-cooked in the oven and are usually served with potatoes and vegetables.

Many restaurant owners outside of Germany make the trip to Munich to learn the unique recipe and put Schweinshaxe on their menus with the traditional cooking method and with traditional ingredients.

It is a dish that you will love!
