LONDON: The famous 12th century market!

London has many hidden neighborhoods that we would recommend you to discover and not limit yourself to the most famous attractions. It has so many beautiful things that you can see up close and that you will not find in travel guides.

For example, Borough Market is a place that is considered one of the oldest food markets in the city. It dates back to the 12th century and you will be able to find stalls with handmade cheeses, delicious street foods, dozens of types of cold cuts, wines and many other delicacies.

Towards the end of the 19th century, the market began to “come to life” even more, while the complete renovation of the space began in the 1990s.

This is a place full of smells and a feast of flavors. The different types of cheeses that you will see on the stalls will make you want to try them all!

We recommend that you allow yourself plenty of time to explore the market, sample the snacks or have a regular meal and do your shopping.

As Borough Market is huge and maze-like, we recommend that you even get a map so you know where the food stalls you are interested in are.

It is best to visit the market from Wednesday to Saturday when all the stalls are open, as there is a limited market on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Saturday sees the highest number of visitors, but don’t be afraid: try going on a Saturday too.

Borough Market is located next to London Bridge (Tube) station.
