LISBON: Cova de la Piedade – Almada, the neighborhood of Luis Figo!

Not many people know that Luis Figo started playing football in the streets of Cova de la Piedade, which is a suburb of Almada.

Almada is about half an hour’s drive from the center of Lisbon. Figo grew up in Cova de la Piedade, where he ran, played football in the streets around his house and then took the Lisbon ferry, when at 13 he joined Sporting Lisbon CP’s academies.

At club level he first played football at the age of 12 in Os Pastilhas based in Cova de la Piedade and starting from a neighborhood in Almada, he managed to become a football legend for Portugal.
