*** SCHLOSSPARK MUSEUM MORSBROICH (Gustav-Heinemann-Straße 80, 51377 Leverkusen)

We would recommend that it be one of your first choices when you arrive in the city. It is a museum of modern art and you should not miss it.

*** ALTENBERGER DOM (Eugen-Heinen-Platz 2, 51519 Odenthal).

Don’t miss it! This former abbey church of Altenberg Abbey was built from 1259 in Gothic style.

*** COLONY MUSEUM LEVERKUSEN eV (Nobelstraße 78, 51373 Leverkusen),

It is worth taking a walk through this museum, which gives an impression of the living conditions of the employees at the Bayer factory. The style of the building is of the 1920s and you can see original pieces and many of them are private individuals from the settlement’s former workforce.

*** INDUSTRY MUSEUMSFUN SENSENHAMMER e.V. (Industriemuseum Freudenthaler Sensenhammer, Freudenthal 68, 51375 Leverkusen).

You can see the history of industrial details from old times to modern machines.

*** WILDPARK REUSCHENBERG (Am Reuschenberger Busch 6, 51373 Leverkusen)

You will make a big mistake if you don’t visit the park. It’s about 60.000 square meters in the middle of the Reuschenberg Forest and is home to 46 different species of wild and domestic animals. A total of over 300 animals can be observed in this extensive facility.

*** ELEFANTENBRUNNEN (Havensteinstraße 21, 51373 Leverkusen).

This statue has a special and emotional story. It’s a beautiful little fountain in a settlement built for Bayer employees. It is worth taking a photo.

*** LAMBERTSMUHLE ( Lambertsmühle, 51399 Burscheid).

It’s an ensemble in Wiehbachtal, that includes the mill building, a stable, a coach house and a barn and has been a listed building since 1983.

The Lambertsmühle was the ban mill of the knight’s seat “Haus Landscheid”. Got its name from a person who lived in the mill with the privilege of the Lords of Landscheid around 1570.

*** JAPANISCHER GARTEN (Kaiser-Wilhelm-Allee, 51373 Leverkusen).

The locals say it is an oasis of silence and beauty. In 1926, Carl Duisberg who was the Chairman of the Supervisory Board and Administrative Board of what was then I.G. Farbenindustrie Aktiengesellschaft, decided to expand the Japanese garden. It had been laid next to his villa in 1913. He loved Japan and you can find out if you visit it.

When you are photographed on this bridge, everyone will understand which city in the world you are in!

It is the trademark of the city! BAYER! Take a photo…It is the largest neon sign in the world!

*** If you have time go to Bergischer Weg for hiking. The images you will see are unique.

*** Dhünn is also an ideal area for hiking and using your camera.

*** Visit the Märchenwald Altenberg and you will be impressed. You will see houses with a theme from favorite fairy tales!

FOOD AND DRINK

The first thing you need to do is to drink traditional beer (Kolsch). Also, if you are a meat lover, then Leverkusen will be your food paradise. The city is on the banks of the Rhine and here you will enjoy awesome fish dishes. An important component of local gastronomy is bread and don’t leave Leverkusen unless you try Halver Hahn (sandwich from a soft rye bun, cheese, butter and pickles).

You can find cheap and expensive hotels in the city center. Prefer hotels near the main train station or next to the cathedral/old city.
