GHENT: The most romantic spot in the city!

Dear sports fans,

Ghent is one of the most ideal European destinations for those who love walking in fairy-tale cities.

Many consider it one of the most romantic cities in Belgium and they are not wrong.

But do you know what the most romantic spot in the city is? If you have traveled to Ghent for a sporting event and you have your partner with you, then walk to Saint Michael’s Bridge.

It is rightly considered the most romantic part of the Belgian city. It was built at the beginning of the 20th century (1905-1909) and was designed by architect Louis Cloquet.

Cloquet’s goal was to build a bridge that would offer a new architectural jewel of the city.

Admire its central lantern adorned with a bronze statue of St. Michael the Archangel. See the details of the statue and the dragon spearing a sword.

Enjoy the picturesque Graslei and Korenlei quays, the historic Gravensteen Castle, St. Michael’s Church, St. Nicholas’ Church, the city bell tower and St. Bavo’s Cathedral.

We would recommend going just before nightfall, when all the sights will start to light up.
