But do you know that you are in a city that is known for one of the best street food nights that locals and students prefer during their night out?
You will be making a big mistake if you find yourself in Ghent and not order to eat “Julientje”.
Words are unnecessary to describe the deliciousness of this particular food.
It is a combination of fresh potatoes, mayonnaise or ketchup, stew sauce, dry fried onions, spicy satay, boiled meat in pieces and lots of spices.
Its image is not the nicest, but for the locals to prefer it for its taste, they obviously know something more.
Many eat it between 1am and 5am. It is usually ordered by young people who have been out for a night out and want to have a snack before heading home.
Locals say Julientje started in Ghent and spread to other cities in Belgium.
