DUBLIN: Irish stew, the culinary feast

Dear sports fans,

Dublin will offer you great experiences and images that you will remember for a lifetime.

Moreover, its cuisine is enviable and delicious. Many top foreign chefs use some of the recipes of famous traditional Irish dishes for their menus in different parts of the world.

The most famous dish of Dublin and by extension Ireland is the Irish stew. In Irish it is called Stobhach Gaelach and the recipe includes boneless lamb, mutton or goat, onions, potatoes and herbs.

Over the years and centuries, other ingredients are added, such as carrots or turnips, but the basic ingredient remains the same: Meat that is simmered for about two hours until it melts in your mouth.

Urban and culinary legend has it that the stew dates back to the 16th century, because back then many foods were cooked over open fires and in cauldrons or pots of that era.

We would recommend Irish stew to be one of the first foods you try during your stay in Dublin. You won’t find such a taste anywhere else!
