COLOGNE: The Deutsches Sport & Olympia Museum Experience

Cologne is one of the most beautiful cities to explore its museums, the city’s architecture and its wonderful gastronomy.

However, there is also a museum that deserves your attention and we would recommend you to visit it for a unique experience. It is the Deutsches Sport & Olympia Museum.

It is worth visiting even if you are in Dortmund (93km away), Gelsenkirchen (92km), Düsseldorf (39km) or Eindhoven (143km away).

It is housed in a former customs house in the Rhine port area dating back to 1896. In approximately 2,700 square meters you will see the history of sports from the Olympic Games of Ancient Greece to the present day.

You will have the opportunity to see approximately 2,000 objects and exhibits to learn everything about sports and the history of the Olympic Games.

It all started with the Munich Olympics in 1972. Then the Germans began the process of starting the actions to open a museum that would highlight the Olympic Ideal and the “fair game”.

The museum is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 10 am to 6 pm.
