Dear sports fans,
Budapest is not only the city of opera, artists, sports, good food and romance due to cruises on the famous Danube.
It is a city with a rich history and attractions that you will not find anywhere else in the world.
For example, Sziklakorhaz located under the Buda Castle area has a unique and special history. Tourists know it as the Hospital in the Rock.
It was originally built in a cave system that was 10 kilometers long under the Buda Castle area.
In the 13th century, wells were dug and wines and food were stored. During World War II it was used as a shelter and in 1944 it was converted into an underground medical institute with three wards and a surgery.
It closed in 1945 and reopened in 1956. It became a nuclear shelter, but also operated as a hospital. Until 2002 it was used as a storage space.
The Hungarian government decided to convert it into a museum in 2007. There you will find over 200 wax figures and works, many machines and furniture.
