Dear sports fans,
Budapest is a wonderful melodic city and one of the most beautiful capitals in Europe.
It is famous for its museums, its culture and its high gastronomy.
Hungarians are also proud of their sweets, which are enchanting and delicious.
The Dobos Torte is a dessert that the locals are proud of and rightly so!
The history of the cake begins in 1884 by József Dobos, who was one of the most famous Hungarian chefs and the owner of a well-known restaurant in Budapest.
What makes it special is that it has five layers of sponge cake and between them it has a wonderful Dobos cream. The top has caramelized golden brown sugar.
Dobos was a restless spirit who traveled the world to learn different recipes and to showcase his wonderful cake.
Many chefs outside of Hungary took the Dobos Torte recipe and tried to make some variations of it.
In the US there is the Doberge Cake, in France the Opera Cake and in Germany the Prinzregententorte. All were based on Dobos Torte.
