Birmingham is worth a visit to feel the aura of Black Sabbath and see the wonderful sights of one of the largest cities in England.
Also, the local cuisine has several influences from various other cuisines. For example, from Asian and specifically from Indian.
We would recommend you to try the “Birmingham Balti” and the name comes from the metal plate in which the curry is cooked.
Balti comes from India and some parts of Pakistan. However, it is mainly eaten in India. Birmingham chefs started putting it on restaurant menus in the late 1970s and it is cooked in a different version, without losing its roots. That’s why it’s called “Birmingham Balti” and the difference is that it’s cooked over a hot flame in the same thin steel bowl it’s served in. The goal is to keep the food warm.
It’s made like this: Chefs heat vegetable oil in a pan over high heat, add onions, garlic, chili, salt, peppers, pepper, chicken and chicken stock. All of this is cooked together and the result is impressive!
