AMSTERDAM: The smallest museum in the city!

Dear sports fans,

Amsterdam is a city that has it all. Many museums, enough restaurants to try any cuisine, nightlife and frenetic life in full swing!

If some of you are lovers of literature and want to make a quick visit to a museum, then we would recommend you to visit the smallest museum in Amsterdam.

This is the Multatuli Huis (Korsjespoortsteeg 20, 1015 AR Amsterdam), which is dedicated to the memory of Eduard Douwes Dekker (1820-1887).

The most famous Dutch writer of the 19th century and defender of free thought signed with the pseudonym Multatuli.

The museum is located in the area where Eduard Douwes Dekker grew up.

He was a man who did not like injustice. He detested corruption in the Dutch East Indies, having worked there as a colonial official, and for this reason he returned to Amsterdam and focused on his writing.

In the museum you will find some of his furniture, his letters and the chaise longue in which he was found dead.
