Dear sports fans,
If you are in Yerevan to attend a sporting event, you will often hear the locals refer to Yerevan as the “Pink City”.
There is an explanation, of course, that the capital of Armenia is considered a “Pink City”.
We will take you on a journey to the 1930s, when residents began to build several buildings located in remote areas of Yerevan.
The material they used to build the buildings was pink in color. It was a trench that was durable and very light.
Several houses were built that had a pink color and since then Yerevan got the nickname of the “Pink City”.
In fact, the locals turned the color pink into a symbol of peace.
So don’t be surprised by the many pink buildings you may see on your walk through the city to explore it.
Pink is a trademark of the capital of Armenia, and the locals have every reason to be proud of it.
Many times several top television networks had done specials for the material used.
It was an event that did not go unnoticed by the world’s leading journalists.
But mostly it had to do with the fact that the color pink was associated with peace and unity.
