Dear sports fans,
Your presence in Munich should be combined with a visit to the Olympic Park. The 1972 Summer Olympic Games were held there and the Park covers an area of approximately 3 million m2 in the Oberwiesenfeld area.
It is a historical site, as before the 1972 Olympic Games it was used by the Bavarian army for the training of soldiers.
If you love sports and want to travel back in time to the distant 1972, then visit it! Many events and concerts are held there.
The Olympic Tower, built in 1968 and approximately 300 meters high, stands tall there.
Tour the huge park and see the Olympic Stadium which until 2005 was the “headquarters” of the football teams Bayern Munich and 1860 Munich.
See the Olympic Hall, the Olympic Mountain, the Aquatic Center and the Olympic Lake. Walk the park bit by bit.
The Bavarians have managed to keep the Park unchanged since 1972. There have been some minor interventions, but in essence it is the Olympic Park that those who took part in the 1972 Olympic Games had enjoyed up close.
We are sure that during your visit you will not want to leave. You will have the feeling of discovering every corner of the park. If you have children with you, then even better! The space is so huge, that your children will find the opportunity to run in the green oasis and experience situations that they would hardly experience in another part of Munich.
