Manchester is one of the cities that loves sports and especially football. It could even be described as a city – a football museum.
It is also a city that has a special charisma in terms of haute gastronomy and very good food.
The traditional dessert of the city is the Manchester Tart. It is the traditional English baked tart that consists of a pastry shell with raspberry jam, covered with cream filling and topped with coconut flakes and a Maraschino cherry.
You can also find other variations such as a layer of bananas that are cut into very thin slices and placed under the cream.
This particular tart dates back many decades. In fact, especially in the 1970s it was a main appetizer at school dinners. Over the years, it has become a staple in the daily lives of Manchester residents and is now considered one of the city’s most recognizable sweets worldwide.
