It is now a municipal museum and you will see, among other things, ancient musical instruments and the evolution of Baroque architecture from the early 17th to the late 18th century.

It is worth spending time in the magnificent mansion of the 18th century, where you will find a rich collection of paintings by Monet and Renoir, but also Picasso pottery having been greatly inspired by the French Riviera.

Travel 400,000 years ago! This is the excavation site with traces of Homo Sapiens of the city and you will see the way of life of the first inhabitants of Nice.

FOOD AND DRINK

You are in the Mediterranean and consequently you will eat fresh fish and seafood. Also, try the lamb and goat flooded with basil, oregano, thyme and other spices. The city is famous for its nicoise salad. Also enjoy the bourride soup which is something like bouillabaisse, but also the raioles, Beignets, Pan Bagnat, Tourte de Blettes, Petit Farci, Ratatouille and pissaladiere. Rose wine should not be missing from your table.

WHERE TO STAY

We would recommend staying close to the center, Le Port or old town, depending of course on your budget. The Carre d’Or area is also nice.
