Dear sports fans,

Your presence in Athens will fill you with experiences with historical monuments, very nice food and nice pictures.

The Greek capital also hides areas – “treasures” that you could not imagine existed in the world.

Visit Anafiotika! It is the hidden “diamond” of Athens and Greece in general.

The picturesque neighborhood is located below the Acropolis and above the famous Plaka.

It is an area that not even the residents of Athens know has such beauty.

You will think you are on a Greek island and the pace is much slower compared to the frenetic pace of the Greek capital.

Anafiotika took their name from the small island of Anafi located in the Cyclades island complex in the Aegean Sea.

They date from 1841, from the time of King Otto I. Most of the workers who made Anafiotika were from this particular island and from other islands of the Cyclades.

When you walk around the neighborhood, you will think you are in one of the most beautiful islands of the Cyclades and not in the center of Athens.

Wander the tiny streets, climb up and down the steps to explore every alleyway of the beautiful district, and sit down to eat or drink in one of the many restaurants in the area.

In Anafiotika you will find the Church of Agios Nikolaos Ragavas built in the 11th century and the Church of the Holy Sepulcher built in the 17th century.
