Ljubljana is a beautiful city with wonderful natural landscapes. At the same time, it is a city that loves sports and has a special relationship with team sports, but also with individual sports.

Football and basketball have a special place in the hearts of Slovenian residents, who always make sure they have free time to watch sporting events up close.

A notable place in Ljubljana is the Sports Museum, or as the locals call it Muzej Športa (Kopitarjeva ulica 4, 1000 Ljubljana).

It was established at the beginning of 2000 and was an important initiative by the Government of the country.

The rich heritage of Slovenian sports is presented in the museum with thousands of exhibits.

We would recommend you to visit it to see tens of thousands of items donated by Slovenian athletes.

You will see personal items from the collections of Olympians, coaches, football players, basketball players and thousands of photos, posters and various other exhibits that will take you back in time.

Many exhibits date back to the late 19th century!

Also visit the Museum’s library with rich and unique books that will help you learn everything about Slovenian sports.
