In Liepaja you will see important sights, beautiful natural landscapes, but also a military prison that is the only one open to the public in Europe, Karosta Prison!

It was considered one of the most difficult prisons to escape from in Europe, as no inmate had managed to escape.

Locals have it as an attraction to highlight the oppression and Stalin-era decision to imprison the free spirit of various great figures of the region and the country.

The prisoners were mainly soldiers and sailors, who had apparently been considered “enemies of the state”.

You can take a guided tour of the prison. See the isolation cells, all the cells of the prison, the dining areas, the areas where the prisoners used to exercise, the visitor center and in general you will get into the spirit of the daily life of a prison that ceased to function at the end of the 20th century.
