*** SKOPJE FORTRESS (2C2M+Q22, Samoilova, Skopje 1000)

It is the trademark of the city. It is located at the highest point of Skopje and according to historians, it was inhabited for the first time in prehistoric times and then around the 7th to 6th century BC.

*** STONE BRIDGE (XCWM+Q6R, Skopje 1000)

Opinions differ as to when it was built. Some support the 6th century after the devastating earthquake of 518 and some others the period of the Ottoman Empire after 1451 and 1469. It is a beautiful bridge and one of the most photographed spots in the city.

*** NATIONAL ARCHAEOLOGY MUSEUM (Kej Dimitar Vlahov 1000, Skopje 1000)

It was opened at the beginning of the 20th century and presents the cultural heritage of the country with over 7,000 valuable objects. There are departments of Prehistoric Archaeology, Antiquity, Medieval Archaeology, Numismatics, Anthropology and Lapidary.

*** MEMORIAL HOUSE “MOTHER THERESA” (MK, Macedonia St 1000, Skopje 1000)

It is dedicated to the Catholic Saint Mother Teresa who had won the Nobel Peace Prize and lived in the city.

*** MUSTAFA PASHA MOSQUE (Fort Kale, MK MK, Fort Kale, Skopje 1000)

It was built in 1492 as a testament of the Vizier of Sultans Bayazid II and Selim I. Its architecture is classical early Constantinople style.

It is one of the most beautiful temples in North Macedonia and you will find wonderful frescoes. Externally it is a dazzling church.

It was inaugurated in 2011 and depicts in a graphic and shocking way the transportation of 7,148 Jews of the country to the concentration camps.

The cuisine of Skopje is fantastic! You can find restaurants with cuisines from all over the world, but we would recommend you to try the local delicacies. Try Sarma, Burek, Tavche Gravce which is made of the best-baked beans, Ohridska Pastmka, Musaka, Kacamak and the traditional Kebabs. You should definitely try the local Pastrmajlija pizza and the Turlitava stew. For dessert try Baklava, Ravanija and Tatlija. Local drinks are Rakija or Mastic. Accompany your food with beer or wine.
